Global Financial Leaders Show Confidence in Pakistan’s Economic Reforms

London:Leading global financial institutions have expressed confidence in Pakistan's economic reform momentum and reaffirmed their commitment to engaging more deeply with the country's financial sector. These sentiments were conveyed during meetings between senior executives from Barclays, J.P. Morgan, Citi, BlackRock, and Rothschild & Co and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in London.

According to Radio Pakistan, the meetings highlighted an increasing international interest in Pakistan's economic reform trajectory and its improving investment climate. Prime Minister Sharif discussed macroeconomic stabilization measures with Mohammad Kamal Syed of Barclays, encouraging the bank to explore financial opportunities in Pakistan.

In discussions with a J.P. Morgan delegation led by Matthieu Wiltz, Co-CEO for EMEA, the Prime Minister talked about enhancing partnerships in capital markets, trade finance, and investment banking. J.P. Morgan expressed interest in Pakistan's sovereign debt capital markets and corporate banking opportunities.

The Prime Minister also met with Citi officials, led by Chief Client Officer David Livingstone. He praised the bank's long-standing presence in Pakistan and encouraged an expansion of its corporate and institutional banking services.

During a meeting with BlackRock representatives, including Co-Heads of Emerging and Frontier Markets Gordon Fraser and Sam Vecht, the Prime Minister invited increased investment in Pakistani equities and fixed income. The discussion emphasized the need for consistent policy to build investor confidence.

At Rothschild & Co, discussions with Lord Mark Sedwill and Majid Ishaq focused on Pakistan's geo-economic priorities and potential advisory collaboration on capital markets and investment strategies.
