Rawalpindi:A U.S. Afghanistan War Commission delegation, led by Co-Chairs Ms. Shamila N. Chaudhary and Dr. Colin F. Jackson, met with Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters.
According to Radio Pakistan, the delegation is conducting a review of the United States' 20-year involvement in Afghanistan. Discussions during the meeting focused on mutual interests such as Pakistan's support, regional security, and developments in Afghanistan, with attention to perspectives pertinent to the Commission's work.
Field Marshal Munir provided insights into Pakistan's perspective on the security dynamics influencing the conflict and emphasized the challenges Pakistan faced throughout the extended conflict in Afghanistan. He highlighted the significance of integrating regional perspectives and Pakistan's experiences when evaluating the strategic, diplomatic, and operational aspects of the conflict.
The delegation recognized Pakistan's longstanding role and sacrifices during the Afghanistan conflict and expressed appreciation for its ongoing contribution to regional peace and stability.
