Pakistan Calls on Taliban to Lift Restrictions on Women and Combat Terrorism

Islamabad:Pakistan has urged the Taliban authorities to lift restrictions on women and girls and to take firm action against terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory.

According to Radio Pakistan, Counsellor Muhammad Jawad Ajmal made this appeal during an Interactive Dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Afghanistan at the UN General Assembly's third committee.

Ajmal emphasized Pakistan's humanitarian efforts, noting that the country has hosted millions of Afghan refugees for several decades, often without adequate international support. He called on the international community to take responsibility for vulnerable Afghan refugees and to support initiatives for a stable and peaceful Afghanistan.

Addressing security concerns, Ajmal highlighted the ongoing terrorism issues in Afghanistan, mentioning groups such as the TTP, BLA, Majeed Brigade, Al-Qaida, ISIL-K, and ETIM. He expressed serious concern about their activities and the threat they pose to Pakistan's national security.

Ajmal stated that Pakistan would not remain passive in the face of continued terrorist attacks and affirmed the country's right to self-defense, in accordance with international law, against any threats to its citizens and national security.
